Feldsparc

Privacy policy

Effective 4 September 2026. Fathom Reach is made by Terry Tata, trading as Feldsparc. This policy covers the game on every platform we ship it to and the backend service the game talks to. Write to feldsparc@pm.me with any question about it.

What we do not collect

Fathom Reach collects no passive gameplay analytics and no automatic error or crash reports. We run no third-party analytics or crash processor. We do not sell your data, share it with data brokers, or use it for advertising, and the game contains no ads and no tracking for advertising purposes.

Nothing about how you play reaches us unless you are playing online or you press Send on a feedback note.

Playing offline

Single-player Fathom Reach runs without a Fathom Reach account and without a connection. On desktop, Open Descent, Daily Signal, and Endless Descent all work this way, though the desktop game is still bought and launched through Steam, which applies its own sign-in and license check. On mobile, offline play is available once the full game is unlocked.

We receive nothing at all from an offline session. On desktop, Steam syncs your save file to Steam Cloud, which is Valve's service under Valve's privacy policy and not ours; we never receive it. On mobile your save stays on your device until you play online.

Playing online

Ranked raids, ladders, leaderboards, and the metered free tier on mobile need an account and a connection, because they involve other players and rules we have to enforce on our side rather than yours.

Your account is identified by a Fathom Reach account id we generate. We never ask you for a name, an email address, a date of birth, or a payment detail, and we never receive your platform password. While you play online we store:

  • Your account id and the sign-in identity your platform gives us. On desktop this is your Steam ID. On mobile it is the opaque subject identifier from Sign in with Apple or Play Games Services.
  • Your game progress: deck, cards, currency, unlock state, base layout, and the base snapshot other players raid.
  • Match and ranking records: ladder rating, leaderboard entries, daily and Endless results, raid outcomes, and the defense reports that tell you who attacked your base.
  • Player-safety records: a report you submit, the exact rig or chamber name you reported, the account that authored it, where you saw it, whether you also blocked that account, and our response to the report.
  • Your dive allowance for the day, if you are playing the metered free tier on mobile.

Everything above travels over HTTPS.

The names you choose are public

You choose a name for your rig. That name is shown to other players wherever your account appears: ladder standings, leaderboards, raid matchmaking, and The Drowned Ace. You can change it at any time from the game. The new name replaces the old one wherever your account is shown live, though a defense report already delivered to a player you raided keeps the name you had at the time of that raid.

You can also name the chambers inside your base. Any player who raids you reads those names.

This is the only text you write that other players see. Pick names you are willing to show publicly.

Reporting and blocking a player name

Where another player's rig or chamber name appears, the game offers Report Abuse. On a screen about one player, open Settings. In a list, open the menu on that player's row. Before sending, the game shows the exact name and whether it is a rig or chamber name. You may report it alone or report it and block that account. There is no free-text field in this report.

A report sends your account id, the other account's id, the exact name, its kind, the screen where you saw it, and your block choice. The service accepts only a name it previously received from that account, so a report cannot attribute invented text to somebody else. We use the record only to review and respond to misuse of player-authored names. A block also prevents either account from receiving the other as a future Ranked match; a raid that both players already started can still finish.

We keep reports, our disposition, and blocks with the accounts involved. They are removed when either referenced account is deleted. Only service operators reviewing player safety can read report evidence; other players see neither your reports nor your block list. If someone reports or blocks you, a copy of your data shows that it happened and what we decided, never who did it. For questions or a report you cannot submit in the game, use the contact details below.

Mobile accounts and purchases

Each platform uses a separate Fathom Reach account. Sign in with Apple proves an iOS account, Play Games Services proves an Android account, and Steam proves a desktop account. Progress, Ranked identity, purchases, and unlocks remain separate across those platforms. Signing in opens a short-lived session with our backend. No reusable credential is written into your save.

When you buy the full unlock we record the transaction identifier, the product id, the app id, whether the purchase is active or revoked, the times it was made and last updated, and, on Google, the billing region code the store reports with the purchase. We give each mobile store identity one random alias. The store uses that alias to match your purchase.

We do not store raw Google purchase tokens, Apple signed transactions, sign-in authorization codes, provider OAuth tokens, private keys, or your session bearer. The purchase record exists so the unlock survives a reinstall and a new device on the same platform.

We keep this limited store record after you delete your account. It lets the same Apple or Google identity restore your purchase. It also keeps later refunds and revocations effective. The record contains your provider subject, store alias, and purchase facts. It has no game progress or deleted account id. We delete an unused store alias when its account is deleted.

Feedback notes

The in-game feedback form sends nothing until you press Send. When you do, we receive the category you picked, the note you wrote, the screen you were on, your language, your app version, your platform, and, if you have an account, the id of the account it came from. Your save file is not attached.

Because the note is free text, it can pick up things you did not mean to send. Our server redacts email addresses and home-directory usernames from the note before storing it. It does not remove the rest of a file path. We keep notes for 90 days and then delete them automatically.

Who else sees your data

Our backend runs on Fly.io, including the Postgres database that holds the records above. Fly.io hosts the data on our behalf and does not use it for its own purposes.

Apple, Google, and Valve handle sign-in and payment on their own platforms under their own privacy policies. We see the results of those operations, not the underlying credentials or payment information.

Other players see your rig name, the chamber names in your base, your ranking, your base layout, and the outcome of raids between you. They do not see your platform identity, your purchase history, or anything you sent us through the feedback form or a player-name report.

We disclose data outside these cases only when the law requires it.

How long we keep things

Account records, including player-name reports and blocks, last as long as the referenced accounts do. Feedback notes are deleted after 90 days whether or not your account still exists. We keep mobile store recovery records while purchases remain restorable. They are kept apart from deleted accounts.

Deleting your account

Open Settings in the game and choose Delete All Progress. This deletes that platform's Fathom Reach account. It removes progress, base snapshots, rankings, defense reports, player-name reports and blocks, linked feedback, and the account's live platform sign-in link. Raids in flight against your base are retired so nobody is left with an unplayable match.

Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. A returning player starts with a new account. On mobile, the limited store record described above remains after a purchase. It only restores the purchase and applies later refunds or revocations.

A deletion we run for you after a web request uses the same deletion operation. We may keep the request correspondence or a minimal case record where the law requires us to show that we honored it. That case record is not used in the game.

Deleting your account does not refund or cancel your purchase, which is held by that platform's store rather than by us. If you start over on the same platform, Restore Purchase returns your full unlock. Accounts on other platforms are unaffected and must be deleted separately.

You can also request deletion from the web at the deletion page without installing the game.

Children

Fathom Reach is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from a child below the age at which their country allows consent without a parent. If you believe a child has created an account, write to feldsparc@pm.me and we will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or receive a copy. Delete All Progress covers deletion directly. For anything else, write to feldsparc@pm.me and we will answer within 30 days.

Changes

4 September 2026: A copy of your data shows that someone reported or blocked you and what we decided, never who did it.

1 September 2026: Added the in-game player-name report and block records, their purpose, matchmaking effect, operator access, retention, and deletion behavior.

1 September 2026: Mobile deletion now keeps the limited store record needed to restore a permanent purchase and apply refunds or revocations. Progress deletion is unchanged.

31 August 2026: Deletions requested through the web began using the same operation as Delete All Progress.

31 August 2026: Clarified that each platform has a separate account, purchase, and deletion scope.

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top and note what changed. A change that affects what we collect or why will be announced in the game before it takes effect.
